Roofing has a software decision most trades never face: the biggest names in the category were built for roofing alone. AccuLynx, JobNimbus, and Roofr exist because residential roofing runs on insurance claims, aerial measurements, and material orders in a way plumbing and HVAC do not. The general field-service platforms (Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan) counter with better scheduling, invoicing, and a lower entry price. This guide covers what each side actually costs at current published pricing, and how to pick based on the work you do rather than the demo you saw. We wrote a separate piece on the roofing-specific vs. general software question if you want the deeper argument.

The roofing-specific platforms

AccuLynx – the restoration standard

AccuLynx is the platform most insurance-restoration roofers end up on. The Essential plan is published at $250/month and covers CRM, aerial measurement ordering, material calculations, branded proposals, supplier direct ordering, and photo management. Supplement tracking, production calendars, and multi-location management sit in the Pro and Elite tiers, which are quote-only. Two things worth knowing before the demo: AccuLynx runs month-to-month with no long-term contract, which is genuinely uncommon in this space, and the add-ons (texting, customer portal, SmartDocs, payments) are priced separately – budget above the base subscription for a realistic total.

JobNimbus – CRM-first, quote-only pricing

JobNimbus is the other big roofing name, built around a CRM with drag-and-drop production boards. It does not publish pricing – you get a custom quote based on team size and features, and third-party reporting consistently describes a base fee plus per-user structure. If you are comparing it against AccuLynx, make the sales rep give you an all-in number including texting and any integrations you need, at your exact seat count, before you compare totals.

Roofr – measurements and proposals without the platform commitment

Roofr takes a different approach: the Starter plan is free forever, and you pay per aerial measurement report ($19 each on the free plan, $13 on paid plans). Essentials at $249/month and Scale at $349/month add instant estimates, proposals, e-signatures, and automations. For a small residential outfit that mainly needs fast, accurate measurements and clean proposals, the free plan plus per-report fees is the cheapest legitimate entry point in roofing software. The math flips once report volume gets high – at that point the subscriptions or a full platform earn their keep.

The general field-service platforms

Jobber (Core $49, Connect $139, Grow $199 for one user on monthly billing) is the strongest fit when roofing is one of several services – gutters, siding, exteriors, repair work. Quoting, scheduling, invoicing, and payments are more polished than the roofing-specific tools, and the entry price is a fraction of AccuLynx. What you give up: insurance supplement workflows, supplier ordering, and roofing measurement integrations.

Housecall Pro (Basic $79, Essentials $189, MAX $329 list on monthly billing, extra users $35/mo; discounted rates were on the pricing page when we checked) fits roofing businesses with a steady service-and-repair arm. Its scheduling, dispatch, and customer-communication tools are aimed at high-volume residential service.

ServiceTitan is quote-only and priced per technician. It only makes sense at real scale – multiple crews, a call center, commercial work. If that is you, put it on the shortlist; if you are under roughly ten field staff, the onboarding cost and complexity usually are not worth it. Our ServiceTitan alternatives guide covers the trade-off.

The add-on almost every roofer keeps: photo documentation

Whichever platform you choose, photo documentation is where roofing disputes are won. CompanyCam organizes time-stamped, GPS-tagged job photos by project and integrates with the major platforms above. We compared the options in our contractor photo app comparison.

How to decide

Mostly insurance restoration work: AccuLynx or JobNimbus – the supplement tracking and claims workflows pay for themselves. Mostly retail/residential re-roofs with a lean sales team: Roofr, and keep your overhead low. Roofing plus other exterior services: Jobber. Heavy service-and-repair volume: Housecall Pro. Multi-crew, multi-trade scale: get the ServiceTitan quote and compare it honestly against AccuLynx Elite. Skip the roofing-specific platforms entirely if insurance claims are under a quarter of your revenue – you would be paying for workflows you rarely use. And if leads are the bigger bottleneck than software, start with our roofing lead generation guide instead.

FAQ

What does roofing software cost in 2026?

Published entry points range from free (Roofr Starter, pay $19 per measurement report) to $49/month (Jobber Core, one user) up to $250/month (AccuLynx Essential). JobNimbus, ServiceTitan, and the upper AccuLynx tiers are quote-only. Add-ons – texting, portals, payments, extra seats – commonly push real totals well above the sticker price, so compare all-in quotes.

Do I need roofing-specific software or will a general platform work?

It comes down to insurance work. Claims, supplements, and aerial measurement workflows are what the roofing-specific tools do that general platforms do not. Retail-focused roofers are usually better served by the general platforms and their stronger scheduling and payment tools. Full breakdown here.

Which roofing software has a free plan?

Roofr is the only tool in this comparison with a genuinely free tier – unlimited CRM and proposals, with measurement reports billed at $19 each. Jobber, Housecall Pro, and AccuLynx offer trials or demos but no free plan.
